The Fulbright Scholar Award funded by the Regional Universities Network of Australia (RUN) will support research projects undertaken at any of the network’s seven member institutions.
Specialisation
This award is open to tenured mid-career academics and above to conduct a program of collaborative research in Australia in one of RUN’s three collaborative research themes: Crops and Foods for the Future, Health and Well-being of the Regions, New Industries.

Scholarship Eligibility
Specific to this award:
- Must include a Letter of Invitation from one of the RUN member institutions with the application
- Must be at associate or full professor level with relevant disciplinary experience
General criteria for all Fulbright Awards:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must not be a dual citizen of Australia
- Must be residing in U.S. at the time of application
- Must not have already commenced this degree or project in Australia
Scholarship Entitlements
- A monthly stipend for a maximum of 4 months (minimum 3 months)
- An international travel entitlement
- An allowance to assist with visits to other RUN institutions
- Eligibility to apply for coverage under Australian Medicare (Scholar only)
- A limited Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges (ASPE) Health Benefits Plan, designed by the U.S. Department of State and administered by Seven Corners, Inc. Please note this plan is NOT an insurance policy
- Support from the Fulbright Commission to assist with administration, visas and general enquiries.
- Dependents of scholars who will be enrolled in the Australian public school system in grades K-12 may have tuition fees waived.
- Orientation and networking opportunities.
- Support from the Commission prior to and during program.

About the Regional Universities Network of Australia
The Regional Universities Network (RUN) is a network of seven universities with headquarters in regional/rural Australia and a shared commitment to playing a transformative role in their regions.
Through their educational and research contributions to regional economic, social, cultural and environmental development, the RUN member universities play an important and distinctive role in advancing Australia’s national prosperity, productivity and identity.
RUN is also leading the creation of regional knowledge hubs and technology parks, providing local access to infrastructure, technologies, research, knowledge and skills and stimulating start-up and growth of new businesses.
The Network was established in October 2011. The foundation members are Charles Sturt University, CQUniversity Australia, Southern Cross University, Federation University, University of New England, University of Southern Queensland and the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Scholars are based at one RUN university of their choice, and they will have the opportunity to visit other RUN universities during their program. A travel allowance will be provided for the scholar to travel between locations.
